Using the site

By using AGSIST you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the site.

What AGSIST is

An agricultural data site that provides market data, weather tools, spray advisories, and related information to farmers. Data comes from third-party sources and is provided for informational purposes only.

Who runs AGSIST

AGSIST is run by Sigurd Lindquist, PO Box 243, Chetek, WI 54728. He also owns Farmers First Agri Service LLC in Chetek, WI (crop insurance, agronomy and ag technology services; a licensed crop-insurance agency) and Loke Drone LC (agricultural drone spraying).

What AGSIST is not

AGSIST is not a trading platform, a licensed advisory service, or a substitute for professional guidance. Prices are delayed. Yahoo Finance lists CBOT and CME futures at a 10-minute exchange delay, and AGSIST fetches them about every 15 minutes while markets trade, so a grain or livestock price here is about 10 to 25 minutes old (energy and metals can lag longer at the source). Each price shows the time of its quote. Embedded TradingView charts follow TradingView’s own delay. All weather and advisory tools are decision-support aids, not directives.

Do not use AGSIST as the sole basis for trading decisions, financial planning, or application timing. Local conditions, product labels, and professional agronomist recommendations always come first.

No warranties

Everything on this site is provided “as is.” I work to keep the data accurate and current, but I make no guarantee about accuracy, completeness, or availability. Markets move and data feeds go down.

License and intellectual property

Three kinds of content live on this site, and each has its own rule.

1. AGSIST’s own work. The writing, design, code, name, and logo of AGSIST are © Sigurd Lindquist, all rights reserved. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short passages with attribution. Do not copy the rest without written permission.

2. AGSIST-compiled datasets. The Farmland Atlas county and state pages, the Atlas county table and its CSV files under /farmland-atlas/data, and the National Hail Map are licensed Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 where the page or file says so. You may copy, share, and adapt them, including commercially. Credit “AGSIST (agsist.com)” and link to the page. The federal figures underneath, from USDA, NOAA, and the National Weather Service, are public domain. The state rent pages under /rent republish USDA NASS cash rent numbers as published, so they are public-domain federal data, not an AGSIST license. The name, logo, and page design are not part of the dataset licence.

3. Third-party data shown here. Delayed futures prices from Yahoo Finance, elevator cash bids, prediction-market odds, and weather from Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service are not AGSIST’s to license. They are subject to their providers’ terms. No right to copy or redistribute them is granted.

The tools stay free for non-commercial use, as before. Commercial licensing of the content in kinds 1 and 3 needs a written agreement, and I can only offer what is mine to offer. Dataset reuse under CC BY may be commercial.

Embeds and developer use

Non-commercial use of AGSIST embeds and widgets is permitted for agricultural or informational purposes with attribution. Commercial use requires a written agreement. This covers AGSIST’s own tools and code (kind 1); any data an embed shows follows the rule for its kind above. See the Developer page.

Liability

Sigurd Lindquist, AGSIST, and Farmers First Agri Service LLC are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of this site or reliance on data provided here.

Privacy

What the site collects, who processes it, and how it answers Global Privacy Control are in the Privacy Policy. Google Analytics sets cookies only when analytics is on, and you can turn it off there.

Sponsors

Sponsored placements are labeled. Sponsors never change data, rankings or bid order. An insurance sponsor may compete with Farmers First Agri Service LLC, which the owner of AGSIST also owns.

Updates

These terms may change. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

Market data

All commodity prices on AGSIST are delayed (a grain or livestock futures price is about 10 to 25 minutes old while markets trade; see Data Sources) and come from Yahoo Finance (via yfinance) and other third-party providers. They are for informational and educational purposes only and do not constitute investment advice, trading recommendations, or a solicitation to buy or sell any commodity or financial instrument.

Agricultural advisory tools

The spray timing advisor, urea volatilization risk tool, harvest-price tracker, pre-sell calculator, and all other tools on AGSIST are decision-support aids, not a substitute for:

AGSIST assumes no liability for crop losses, application errors, drift, equipment damage, or any other harm arising from reliance on these tools.

Weather data

Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service. Forecasts can be wrong. Always verify current conditions before making application decisions.

Hail alerts and county watches

Hail alerts and county watches are best-effort. They rest on radar-based estimates and reports from public sources, and they can arrive late or be missed. AGSIST is not a warning service. Do not rely on an alert for your safety, and report damage to your insurer on your own clock.

Crop insurance

Farmers First Agri Service is a licensed crop insurance agency. Nothing on AGSIST constitutes a binding insurance quote or contract. For official policy information, contact me directly.
