Who is behind AGSIST, how the AGSIST Daily is made, where the numbers come from, and what happens when something is wrong.
Who is behind it
AGSIST is one person: me, Sigurd Lindquist, a CCA in Chetek, Wisconsin. I own it and pay for it. There are no investors. I also own Farmers First Agri Service LLC (crop insurance, agronomy and ag technology) and Loke Drone LC (drone spraying). The About page has the rest, including who sponsors the site.
How the AGSIST Daily is made
The Daily is drafted each morning by AI software, working from my rules, examples of how I write, and that morning’s market data and news. Before it posts, code checks every price in it against the market feed; a draft that fails does not post. It usually goes up between 5:45 and 6:30 a.m. Central. I read it each morning and fix what is wrong when I see it or when you tell me.
The Daily is market news and commentary. It is not advice to buy, sell or hedge anything, and it never knows your farm. When an issue carries the prediction bot's call, it is copied from the bot's own page, where every call is graded.
Where the numbers come from
- Futures: delayed quotes, labeled with the time they were read. A settle is called a settle only when it is one.
- USDA: NASS, WASDE, AMS and RMA, read from USDA's published files and reports. The Data sources page lists every feed on the site.
- News: other outlets are credited by name. Their reporting stays theirs.
- Anything worked out here (a percent change, an average, a running harvest price) says how it was figured.
A number that cannot be checked stays out. A missing number stays missing.
Sponsors and independence
Sponsors pay for a labeled spot. They never see an issue before it posts, never pick its topics, and never change data, rankings or bid order anywhere on the site. My own businesses are not advertised here.
Corrections
If something in an issue is wrong, email sig@farmers1st.com or call 715-797-2428. Tell me the date and what you saw.
- A wrong fact or number in a published issue is fixed on that issue's page, and a dated Correction note at the bottom says what was wrong and what is right.
- Fixes to tools and pages are dated on What’s New, mistakes included.
- An email that already went out cannot be pulled back. The fix goes on the page.
