How the numbers are counted
- Each county page uses one weather station inside that county, and only a station that reported at least 90% of the days this year. Counties without one are listed on the state page with the nearest county that has one.
- A day the station did not report is unknown, not dry. It adds nothing to the total and nothing to the usual year either.
- Usual is NOAA’s daily normal for that station, added up over the same days it reported.
- Every page says the latest day its station has reported. NOAA’s daily numbers come in a few days late, and the pages are rebuilt about once a week.
