About AGSIST
Markets, weather, bids and farm math for US grain, livestock, dairy and specialty producers, all in one place. No login, no paywall. One guy built it, and one guy pays for it.
What it is
AGSIST is an ag dashboard. Futures prices across grain, livestock, dairy, and energy (delayed: a grain or livestock price is about 10 to 25 minutes old while markets trade), plus local weather, spray and urea-loss conditions, USDA reports, prediction markets, calculators, and a daily briefing. All in one place, no login.
Most of this data used to sit behind subscriptions priced for commodity desks. My own clients needed it, so I built it.
Who built it
I'm Sig Lindquist, a CCA in Chetek, Wisconsin, working with grain, livestock, dairy and specialty producers. My clients kept asking me for numbers that sat behind subscriptions priced for commodity desks, so I started building them a page. That page got out of hand. I write the code, check the numbers and answer the email myself, alone and in silence, in an old Amish schoolhouse. Nights, weekends and every spare moment in between.
My other businesses
I also own Farmers First Agri Service LLC in Chetek, WI (crop insurance, agronomy and ag technology services; a licensed crop-insurance agency) and Loke Drone LC (agricultural drone spraying). An insurance company that sponsors AGSIST may compete with Farmers First. Farmers First never takes a sponsor slot, and AGSIST never sends readers to an agent. Sponsors never change data, rankings or bid order on this site.
Who pays for it
Me. Just me. No investors, no venture money, no partner splitting the bill.
Every price quote, weather call, map and server minute on this site shows up on a bill with my name on it. The bill goes up every time the site gets better, which is a bad business plan, and I know it. Some months the bill has come close to needing a comma.
Right now the site brings in less than it costs. I'm fine with that for now, because I'd rather you have the numbers. If you want to help stop the bleeding:

- Order a Rain Print. A framed print of your own farm's rain year. It's the one thing here I sell, and every one helps pay the bills.

The tools stay free for non-commercial use right now. I won't pretend that's forever, and if it ever has to change, I'll say so plainly.
