Commitment

One person builds and maintains AGSIST. The goal is a site everyone can use, including people with disabilities.

Conformance status

AGSIST partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the target, and it is not yet met on every page. This page was last reviewed on September 26, 2026. The review covered the site’s pages at phone and desktop widths in the dark theme. It does not cover the light theme, and an automated check does not catch everything.

What was found to be in place

• Descriptive alt text on the images.
• Landmark regions (main, nav, footer) on the content pages.
• A skip-to-content link on most pages.
• A responsive layout that has no sideways page scroll at phone width.
• A visible focus outline on links and buttons.

Known gaps

• Color contrast. Some pairs fall below 4.5:1: white text on the green buttons, the labels on the colored state tiles, and some small labels on the USDA calendar and What’s Priced In pages.
• Color alone. Links inside paragraphs are told apart from the text by color only on many pages. Some tables and tiles use color to show high, low or missing values, with the value written out beside it in most but not all cases.
• Small text. A few pages (COT, Farmland Atlas, sponsor proofs) set some text at 9 to 10 pixels.
• Labels. Some form controls and icon buttons have no accessible name, including a few selects on the conditions, grain bin, spray and cash lease tools.
• Keyboard. Some scrolling tables cannot be scrolled from the keyboard, and with JavaScript off some pages show two skip links (the script removes the duplicate). A few pages, mostly redirects and the sponsor proof page, have none.
• Touch targets. Footer links, menu items and some small buttons are smaller than 44 pixels.
• Charts and maps. Real-time tables, charts, radar and the drought monitor have limited screen reader support.
