A Christmas gift your farm customers will hang up

Sigurd Lindquist, Certified Crop Adviser (CCA), Chetek, Wisconsin

Elevators, co-ops, seed dealers, ag lenders, crop insurance agencies and equipment dealers give customers something every December. Most of it is a cap, a calendar or a box of sausage. A Rain Print is a year of rain at the customer’s own place, drawn day by day and printed 12 x 18 for the wall.

Each print can be a different customer’s town and year, or one town for the whole list. I print, frame and ship every one myself, from 5 prints up, on one invoice.

Christmas dates

Any past year ships before Christmas if the list comes in time: send it by Nov 20. Last year, or a year your customers still talk about, works well. This year’s print ships in January, once the full year’s numbers are in.

Each order ships within 3 business days after you OK the proof sheet.

How it works

  1. Send me the list. How many, print or framed, and the towns and years. If it’s one town for all of them, just say so.
  2. I send a quote and one proof sheet with every print on it.
  3. You OK it. Nothing is printed or charged before that.
  4. I print, frame and ship them, all to you or one to each customer, within 3 business days of your OK.
  5. You pay the invoice, net 30. A W-9 on request.

Sending your customer list

A spreadsheet saved as CSV is easiest. One row per print:

Your list stays with me. I use it to make and ship these prints and for nothing else. Nobody on it is added to an email list or hears from me. The quote form keeps a copy so I can find your order again.

Ask for a quote

Nothing is printed or charged until you OK the quote and the proof sheet. Or email the list to sig@farmers1st.com.

Questions

Why doesn't our business name go on the print?

So it hangs in the house, where the family sees it every day, instead of in the shop with the seed corn signs. Your name goes on the note card in the box, and a logo can go on the print, small, next to the customer's name.

What year should we pick?

Last year works for everyone and ships before Christmas. So does a year your area still talks about, like a drought or a flood. You can also give each customer a different year, like the year they started farming, if you know it.

What is the smallest order?

5 prints. 5 to 9 cost the regular price, on one invoice. From 10 the price per print drops, and it drops again at 25 and 50. For fewer than 5, order the regular way on the Rain Print page.

Can you ship to each customer?

Yes. Send a mailing address for each one and I ship them one by one, with your note on a card in each box. Shipping is in the price either way. All to one address takes a little off each print from 10 up.

How do we pay?

By invoice, net 30. A W-9 on request. Nothing is charged before you OK the quote and the proof sheet.

What if a customer's town has no good weather record?

Each print uses the nearest weather station with a good record for that year, and names it in a small line at the bottom. The proof sheet shows every print before anything is printed, so you see which station each one uses.
