The weather the year you were married, on the wall
Most couples can tell you what the weather was on their wedding day. Few can tell you what the rest of that year did. The spring was wet, or the summer was dry, or the winter started early.
A Rain Print draws it. Every rain and snow of your wedding year, from the weather station nearest the town, with the wedding day marked. I'm a crop adviser in Chetek, Wisconsin, and I make each one myself. Here is what you get, and what you don't.
The year you married, with the day marked

Type the town and the year. The page draws it for free. Rain hangs below the line and snow stands above it in light blue. You can put a usual year beside it in gray to see if yours ran wet or dry.
The print is the whole year, not one day. Mark the wedding day and it sits on the year in your words, like "Married". You can mark up to five days, so the engagement or the first home can go on too.
- Digital file $19
- 13 x 19 print $45
- Framed $89
Shipping is in the price, anywhere in the 50 states. I print every one myself and you OK a proof before anything prints. I make and sell Rain Print, so I'm not a neutral guide here. Nothing else on this page earns me anything.
What the print shows, and what it doesn't
It shows a year of daily rain and snow at one weather station, from NOAA's records. A small line at the bottom names the station and how far it is from your town. It is that station's gauge. If a storm hit the church and missed the station, it will not show.
It does not show the weather on the wedding day by itself, and I won't pretend it does. The day is marked inside its year. That is the better gift for an anniversary, because you can see the spring before the wedding and the first winter after it.
You can also add the high and low temperatures, the hottest and coldest days, and the last spring and first fall frost. Those come from the nearest station that kept daily highs and lows that year. If none did, the page says so.
How to pick the year and the place
- The year. The year you married. For a first anniversary, that is last year or this year. This year's print ships in January, once the full year is in.
- The town. The town of the wedding, or the town you lived in that first year. Pick the one that feels like the place. The page shows the station and its distance before you pay.
- The station. I prefer a station that kept both rain and snowfall over a closer one that kept only rain. You can pick another under the town box.
- How far back. As far as the station kept records, in some places to 1890. Type a year and the page tells you if it can be drawn.
What goes on it
A name line of up to 24 letters, like "Mark and Julie". A line under it of up to 70 letters, like "Married in a dry June". Each marked day takes up to 13 letters. Short lines look best.
For a long marriage there is one more choice. Turn on a gray line for every other full year the station kept. Yours stays in blue on top, and the print says where it ranks. It needs at least 30 full years, so the page may use a station farther away, and it says so.

What it costs and when it gets there
The digital file is a PDF, a PNG and a JPG by email within minutes of your OK on the proof. The print is on 13 x 19 inch heavy, textured cotton paper and ships flat between chipboard. The framed print is a 13 x 19 black frame with a white mat and a real glass front, ready to hang.
Prints and framed prints ship within 3 business days after you OK the proof. The order-by date for Christmas shows on this page once it is close, and it comes from the same file the order page uses.
A gift note goes at the top of the letter in the box, free, and no prices go in the box. Every print is numbered and I initial each one in pencil.
Who it works for
- An anniversary. The year you married, for the two of you or from the kids.
- A wedding gift. The couple's wedding year, from a friend or relative. For this year's wedding it ships in January.
- A farm couple. Use the farm's station.
- Parents. The year Mom and Dad married, from the town they were married in.
If the gift is for a birthday or a baby, see the birth year version. For a farm couple, there is also farm anniversary gifts, and the whole list is at gifts for farmers.
Questions
Can I get the weather on our wedding day?
Not for one day alone. A Rain Print draws the whole wedding year, every rain and snow at the nearest weather station, and you mark the wedding day on it. You see the day in its year, with the weeks before and after.
Which town should I pick, where we married or where we live?
Either. Type the town and the page draws the nearest station with a good record. Many couples use the town of the wedding. Farm couples often use the farm, since that is where they watched the weather.
Can I order for an anniversary year that is coming?
Yes, for any year the station has records. For a wedding this year, the print waits for the full year, so it ships in January once the December numbers are in. You get a proof by email first.
Can it have our names and the date?
Yes. The name line takes up to 24 letters, like "Mark and Julie", and the line under it up to 70. You can mark up to five days, with up to 13 letters each, like "Married".
What if the station was missing days that year?
Missing days show as gaps, never as dry days, and a small line says so. A station missing more than 31 days in the year gets no print. The page reads the three nearest stations and picks the first with 10 or fewer missing days. You see this before you pay.
How is it sent?
A digital file comes by email. A print ships flat on 13 x 19 inch heavy cotton paper, and a framed print comes in a black frame with a white mat and a glass front. Shipping is in the price in the 50 states.
