WTI's at $92.61 overnight, up 4.9% after another tanker took fire off Qatar, the first deep-Gulf hit since fighting flared there back in September. Soybean oil got hit the other way, down 3.1% as meal took over the complex's weight. That split already moved crush margins before a single export sales number hit the tape.

Crude Runs On Fresh Tanker HitHIGH CONVICTION
  • WTI's at $92.61 overnight, up 4.9%, after a tanker took multiple projectile hits 51 nautical miles off Qatar, the first deep-Gulf strike in weeks.
Diesel costs just got a fresh risk premium heading into fall fieldwork.
Soy Oil Breaks, Meal Takes OverMEDIUM CONVICTION
  • Soybean oil's down 3.1% overnight to $67.42 while meal ran 3.5% higher to $365.90, the crush spread flipping hard toward protein.
  • Soybeans themselves are soft, down 0.3% to $12.94, caught between the two product moves with no clean net direction.
Crush margin math just moved without soybeans themselves doing much.
Corn Grinds At The Round NumberLOW CONVICTION
  • Corn's barely moved, up a half-cent to $5.03, holding the same ground it's traded since reclaiming $5 three sessions back.
  • Grain storage is the live story underneath the calm: farmdoc's new read says Corn Belt capacity covers this year's carry-in plus harvest in aggregate, but ten of thirteen states show local shortfalls.
Tight local storage is pressuring basis more than the futures chart admits.
TODAY'S WATCH LIST
  • 7:30 AM CT ThuWeekly export sales print; soybean sales under 1.5 MMT would read soft against the meal/oil split.
  • OngoingHormuz tanker count; another attack pushes WTI toward $95, a calm week fades the premium back toward $88.
  • This weekendGulf storm track; a hurricane landfall near shut-in platforms adds to crude's bid, a miss unwinds it fast.
OUTSIDE THE PITNot moving prices today, but worth knowing.
