Corn steadies near $4.81 after Friday's WASDE hit
Corn is at $4.81 overnight, up a quarter cent from Friday's $4.79¾ settle, a small bounce after Friday's near 4% drop on USDA's yield number. Soybean meal gained 2.2% to $368.70 while beans slipped to $12.83. Monday's quiet bounce doesn't undo Friday's loss on unpriced corn.

Corn finds its feet after WASDE
- Corn is at $4.81 overnight, up a quarter cent, a day after Friday's near 4% drop on USDA's yield number.
- Soybeans slipped seven cents to $12.83 even with a record crop already priced in from Friday.
- Soybean meal gained 2.2% to $368.70, the biggest move in the grain complex today.
Meal is doing the work in soy, not beans themselves.
Cattle and feeders keep climbing
- Live cattle are at $224.98 overnight, up 1.4% from Friday's $221.88 settle.
- Feeders are up 1.7% to $343.85, extending last week's strength with no Cattle on Feed report behind it.
- The cattle herd sits at a 75-year low, and that scarcity keeps showing up in both contracts.
Tight supply, not a report, is still driving the cattle bid.
Crude firms as tankers take more hits
- WTI crude is at $92.52 overnight, up 0.7%, after two more tankers were attacked near the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend.
- That's part of the Iran-Hormuz cycle, a re-escalation since July that has cooled and flared more than once since spring.
Diesel policy news matters more to farmers right now than another tanker headline.
TODAY'S WATCH LIST
- Tuesday, Oct 13, 3:00 p.m. CTCrop Progress, delayed a day for Columbus Day. Harvest pace matters more than usual after Friday's yield cut.
- Thursday, Oct 15, 7:30 a.m. CTExport sales. Strong soybean numbers would help offset Friday's record-crop weight on the board.
- OngoingCorn back under $4.75 would say Friday's WASDE loss still has room to run.
OUTSIDE THE PITNot moving prices today, but worth knowing.
