Non-irrigated cash rent in Walton County averages $41 per acre in 2026, down 8.9 percent from 2016. Land value in the 2022 census was $5,504 per acre, up 46 percent from 2017, 7.9 percent a year. Heat and drought account for 44 percent of crop insurance indemnities paid from 1989-2025, and that share moved from 21 percent in 1989-1999, to 63 percent in 2000-2009, to 37 percent in 2010-2019, to 54 percent in 2020-2025.
